The Esplanade is dotted with multiple beach access points, parks, playgrounds, and picnic areas, making it perfect for family outings. Local cafés and restaurants along the route provide refreshments, and BBQs and toilets are also available.

Whales visit Hervey Bay during the winter months, while dolphins can be seen year-round. Families can tailor their walk depending on time or energy, heading east toward Torquay for free exercise equipment or west to Point Vernon for views of Fraser Island.
