About this walk
Lysterfield Lake is approximately 45 minutes from Melbourne at the base of the southern Dandenong Ranges. This park is the perfect place for a family day out offering expansive grassy areas with BBQ and picnic facilities. The lake has a boat ramp for non-motorised boating such as canoeing, kayaking and sailing.
Lysterfield Lake is a haven for wildlife – 140 birds species have been recorded in the park. Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and echidnas live here too. No dogs allowed.
The wide gravel track circling the lake is an easy bush walk with a pram. Trees provide shade along the way.
Pram Walks user – Bree – offers the following advice:
“Park in the second car park to the right as you come in.
We like to follow the concrete path clockwise.
The dam wall can be quite windy even on a calm day so rug up. Once over the wall, you will come across the only “medium” steep section. This section short but steep. Once past this, the rest is pretty easy and flat – approx 5.5 km with bench seating along the way.
Take the short cut track as it is flat and this will take you back to the car park – approx 3km away.
Enjoy!”
Thank you, Bree, for adding another Pram walk for families to enjoy!!
