Lilly Pilly Nature Walk – Wilsons Promontory
The Lilly Pilly Nature Walk is a gentle, family-friendly trail located in Wilsons Promontory National Park, Gippsland, Victoria. Known locally as “The Prom,” this stunning area is famous for its coastal wilderness, diverse flora and fauna, and spectacular landscapes. It’s about a three-hour drive from Melbourne, making it a perfect destination for a weekend getaway or a family holiday.
Wilsons Promontory has excellent facilities for visitors. At the main hub of Tidal River, you’ll find camping grounds, a visitor centre, and a small general store with a takeaway outlet. Easy Access and Walking Trail
The Lilly Pilly Nature Walk can be reached by car along Wilsons Promontory Road or from Tidal River via the Link Track. The walk is approximately 2.1 km one way on compacted sand, making it suitable for walkers of all ages. The trail also features an additional 600 meters of boardwalk that meanders through warm temperate rainforest and fern gullies, providing a lovely mix of coastal heathland and lush forest.
Please note that the circuit beyond the boardwalk is not suitable for prams, so families with young children should plan to turn back before that section. Interpretive signs along the walk make it educational as well as scenic. There is a toilet conveniently located in the car park.
