Karkarook Park in Moorabbin is a stunning example of how a depleted wasteland can be regenerated to allow wildlife and recreation to coexist.
Once a sand mine, Karkarook Park now boasts a 15 hectare lake and wetland, that filters rain water before it enters Port Phillip Bay.
Up to 6 km of walking tracks lace through the park, including the Lake Trail and the Wetlands Walk.
Make a day of it with a BBQ or picnic and enjoy this oasis hidden in a commercial hub.
