Mount Barker is the largest town in the Adelaide Hills and is home to the Laratinga Wetlands. The Laratinga Wetlands are considered the premier waste water treatment plant in Australia and are a thriving eco-system that supports a diverse range of bird life.

Three trails are available;

  • Chestnut Teal Trail – 0.75km – 15 minutes
  • Rosella Trail – 2km – 35 mins
  • Sacred Ibis Trail – 2.6km – 45 mins.

The Laratinga Wetlands connect to the Mount Barker Linear Trail. Park at the picnic area on Bald Hills Rd. Part of the Chestnut Teal Trail includes an open boardwalk, so please watch youngsters near the water.
