Tamar Island is only 15min from Launceston’s CBD and is beside the Tamar river.
An excellent Information Centre is located at the start of the walk. Follow the board walk to view many different species of water loving birds and wrecked boats (once used for silt mitigation). There’s also a pontoon and an old shack.
There are huge oak trees on Tamar Island – look for the tree with a plough.
Gas BBQ’s make it the perfect place for a picnic.
Best time to visit is on high tide.
Thank you Elaine for adding this walk!!!
