About this walk
Herring Island is a little known island in the middle of the Yarra River, only 3km from Melbourne’s’ CBD.
Herring Island is a vital ecological resource that provides inner city habitat for indigenous fauna. The island boasts a series of environmental sculptures created from natural materials, based on the history and landscape of the island.
Enjoy these environmental sculptures as you walk the accessible (for wheels!) walking trail around the island. An old scout hall is now the Herring Island Gallery.
Access is only available by boat. Parks Vic operates a punt to Herring Island from Como Landing. Click here for details.
