Each metre you walk represents 1,000,000 km in space, giving kids and adults alike an impressive sense of scale.

About the Trail

The model of our solar system follows St. Kilda’s iconic Esplanade. Start near the white lighthouse in St. Kilda’s Marina Reserve at the Sun sculpture. The trail is designed so that all planets are accurately spaced and scaled, providing insight into the vast distances in our solar system.

• The first five planets can be visited in under 1 km.

• Neptune is 4.5 km away, and Pluto is almost 6 km away on Sandridge Beach, past Princes Pier.
