About this walk
Sydney Circular Quay & Botanic Gardens Walk
Experience some of Sydney’s most iconic landmarks on this flat, family-friendly walk. Perfect for prams, strollers, and toddlers learning to walk, this route combines urban sightseeing with beautiful green spaces.
Start at Circular Quay
Catch a train or ferry to Circular Quay, one of Sydney’s busiest and most scenic transport hubs. Follow the Sydney Cove shoreline, weaving past street performers, cafés, and busy waterfront activity. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, ideal for photos and a quick stop to take in the scenery.
For official transport and visitor info, see Transport for NSW – Circular Quay.
Royal Botanic Gardens
From the quay, enter the Royal Botanic Gardens, where toddlers can get out of the pram to practice walking on soft grass paths. The gardens are pram-friendly, with mostly flat, paved trails, shaded areas, and beautiful floral displays.
You can either wander the lush gardens at your own pace or follow Farm Cove around to Mrs Macquarie’s Point and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, both offering stunning views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. This is a perfect spot for family photos or a short picnic.
Return Route
Head back through the Domain and Botanic Gardens, retracing your steps along the same scenic paths. The walk is flexible—choose shorter sections if needed, depending on your toddler’s stamina.
