Emerald Lake Park is the ideal place for a family day out, close to Melbourne. The iconic Puffing Billy steam train stops here and delights kids of all ages, including parents.

This pram-friendly walk winds through a mix of established European trees and remnant temperate rainforest, ending with a wish at the Wishing Well. Magical all year, the autumn colours are particularly spectacular.

There’s a network of pram-friendly paths throughout the park, with plenty of spots for picnics and BBQs. A café serving hot and cold food is located at the Puffing Billy station. Paddle boats and two outdoor playgrounds provide additional fun for children.

The lake is restocked with Rainbow Trout each year, and fishing is permitted. An outdoor wading pool offers relief on hot days (open when forecasted over 26°C and daily in January). Children must be supervised at all times.
