About this walk
Emerald Lake Park is the ideal place for a family day out, close to Melbourne. The iconic Puffing Billy steam train stops here and delights kids of all ages, including parents.
A pram friendly walk, through a mix of established European trees and remnant temperate rainforest, ends with a wish. This walk is magical at all times of the year, however the colours in autumn are spectacular. Make a wish at the Wishing Well before returning the same way.
There’s a network of pram friendly walks throughout the park and plenty of spots for a family picnic and BBQ. A café serving hot and cold food is located at the Puffing Billy station.
Paddle boats are for hire and a great way to entertain energetic older kids. Emerald Lake Park has two outdoor playgrounds.
The lake which is re-stocked with Rainbow Trout each year and fishing is permitted.
An outdoor wading pool offers relief on hot days. The pool is open on days forecast over 26C and every day in January. Children must be supervised at all times.
